چکیده

Results on jet production and quark fragmentation are presented from the five detectors at the PEP e+estorage ring at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center: DELCO (Caltech-SLAC-Stanford), I-IRS (ArgonneIndiana-LBL-Michigan-Purdue-SLAC), MAC (ColoradoFrascati-Houston-Northeastern-SLAC-Stanford-UtahWisconsin), MARK II (SLAC-LBL-Harvard), and TPC (LBL-Johns Hopkins-UCLA-UC Riverside-Yale). All data were taken at a center-of-mass energy (Ec.m.) of 29 GeV. The topics which will be discussed are particle identification, charge and multiplicity correlations, energy correlation asymmetry, D* and D production and fragmentation, and heavy quark fragmentation results from inclusive lepton studies. PEP ran very well this year with 156 pb-’ delivered during the past running .2.period. It will take the experiments some time to fully analyze this data.

Charged Particle Production in the Fragmentation of Quark and Gluon Jets

Recent results on the total production and angular distribution of charged particles originated from the fragmentation of quark and gluon jets are presented. Experimental studies of the multiplicity as a function of the quark and gluon jet energy, the inter-jet particle flow and the individual fragmentation functions are reviewed and compared to expectations from QCD. To appear in the proceedin...

بررسی رویدادهای چند جتی در نابودی الکترون - پوزیترون

Analysis of electron – positron annihilation into hadrons in the range of energies above 60 GeV shows that apart from two jet events, there are evidence for three jet events that according to the QCD theory interpreted as a gluon radiation by a quark. However, the higher order diagrams lead to four jet events. In this paper, we study the fragmentation of quarks and gluons into hadronic jets . ...

Measuring the Photon Fragmentation Function at HERA

The production of final state photons in deep inelastic scattering originates from photon radiation off leptons or quarks involved in the scattering process. Photon radiation off quarks involves a contribution from the quark-to-photon fragmentation function, corresponding to the non-perturbative transition of a hadronic jet into a single, highly energetic photon accompanied by some limited hadr...

Scaling Violations of Quark and Gluon Jet Fragmentation Functions in Ee Annihilations

Hadron production in high energy collisions can be described by parton showers, followed by the formation of hadrons which cannot be described perturbatively. Gluon emission, the dominant process in parton showers, is proportional to the colour factor associated with the coupling of the emitted gluon to the emitter. These colour factors are CA = 3 when the emitter is a gluon and CF = 4/3 when i...

Report of the Qcd Working Group

The activities of the QCD working group concentrated on improving the understanding and Monte Carlo simulation of multi-jet final states due to hard QCD processes at LEP, i.e. quark-antiquark plus multi-gluon and/or secondary quark production, with particular emphasis on four-jet final states and b-quark mass effects. Specific topics covered are: relevant developments in the main event generato...
